Mexican football for 2026 gets back underway in under a week but teams are only getting started with their winter activity.
A handful of deals have already been completed, but there are a whole host of moves on the horizon as teams look to bolster their chances of competing in the 2026 Liga MX Clausura.
These are the biggest deals to have already taken place, and the types of deals we could see happen in the near future:
Liga MX Deals
Diber Cambindo - Necaxa to León
The first major deal to be completed ahead of the 2026 Liga MX campaign saw Necaxa's target man, Diber Cambindo, switch from Aguascalientes to León.
Across two years with Los Rayos, Cambindo has 32 goals to his name and played a crucial role in helping the side reach the 2025 Liga MX Clausura playoffs. While the side failed to reach the same heights in the most recent competition, which saw Necaxa finish in 13th, with only four wins to their name, the Colombian forward provided six goals, double the next highest player for the club.
Salomón Rondon - Real Oviedo to Pachuca
Six months after ditching Hidalgo for Spain, Salomón Rondón is returning to Mexico after struggling to help the newly promoted side in the Spanish top flight.
A part of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup winning side, the 37-year-old scored 36 goals across two seasons for the club and since his departure in the summer, the club have been lacking a natural goalscorer to lead the line.
Brian Rodriguez - Club América to Necaxa
The most surprising deal of the winter window has seen the Uruguayan forward, Brían Rodríguez, leave Mexico City, in a move north, to replace the outgoing Cambindo.
Serving as a three-time Liga MX champion, Rodríguez offered 11 goal contributions across the Apertura and can play on both wings and down the middle.

Liga MX Rumours
José Giménez - Atlético Madrid to Tigres
Mexican football attracted some high-profile names in 2025 and if the rumours are to be believed, will continue to welcome global superstars, with Atlético Madrid defender, José Giménez being linked with a move.
A deal this winter would allow the 30-year-old to join former teammate Ángel Correa at 'El Volcán', having spent the last 13 years with Los Rojiblancos.
James Rodríguez - Free Agent to Pumas
James Rodríguez is one of the hottest names on the free agents list this winter and many predict that the Colombian international may stay in Mexico after a year-long spell with Club León.
A move to the capital would see another Madrid partnership coming together as the 34-year-old would join Costa Rican goalkeeper and former Real Madrid star, Keylor Navas.

Luca Orellano - Cincinnati FC to Monterrey
Los Rayados are in search of a new central defender following the exit of Sergio Ramos and one name being considered is the Argentine Luca Orellano.
Aged 25, Orellano is being targeted as a long-term replacement for the former World Cup and Champions League winner as someone known for his man-marking, tackling and blocking abilities.
Rodrigo Dourado - San Luis to Club América
The final major rumour in the Liga MX at the moment includes Brazilian midfielder Rodrigo Dourado.
In an effort to build on their quarter-final exit in the Apertura, Las Águilas are eyeing up a player who likes to get stuck in defensively, able to intercept attacks and build plays for his teammates.
The move is seen as an exciting prospect for the 16-times Liga MX champions, looking to bounce back after failing to win either of the last two titles.
