Guillermo Ochoa, 40, remains determined to continue his illustrious career, one year out from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which Mexico will joint-host.

El Tri's third-highest appearance maker recently left Portuguese side AVS Futebol, but has expressed his desire to find a new club to earn a spot in next summer's Mexico squad.

Following his departure from Portugal, reports of a new club have been few and far between. REPORT highlight that Liga MX side Mazatlán are interested in taking the goalkeeper to Sinaloa, but there has been no agreement between the two parties, with Ochoa's interest in the move remaining unknown.

If Ochoa manages to convince manager Javier Aguirre, it will be a record-breaking sixth World Cup for Jalisco-native.

Mazatlán desire to sign the goalkeeper comes following the departure of Hugo González, who made the switch to Liga MX Clausura champions Toluca.

The club's biggest challenge will be persuading Ochoa to buy into their project. He has always prioritised staying in Europe, where he has already played in Portugal, France, Spain, and Italy. However, with many clubs across the continent having already settled on their first-choice keepers, he may soon be forced to make a decision.
