2025 ended poorly for the Mexican national team after drawing 0-0 against Uruguay and losing 2-1 to Paraguay in friendly matches ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Since then, the Mexican national team will play against Portugal and Belgium in the next FIFA international window, which is in March 2026.
Despite the next international break being in March, Mexico is set to play two friendly matches against Bolivia and Panama.
The Mexican Football Federation is expected to confirm the matches soon. This comes from a report from Rubén Rodríguez of FOX Sports, who suggests that Mexico will play against Panama in Panama and Bolivia in La Paz.
Mexico vs Bolivia & Panama with only Liga MX players
One of the disadvantages of playing Bolivia and Panama in January is that, since the match is not during an official FIFA international window, Mexico will only be allowed to call up Liga MX players.
Mexico has done this before, and early this year, a young Mexican national team played against Internacional from Brazil and River Plate of Argentina.
Mexican fans see this as a positive, as many believe that Javier Aguirre should look at young players in Liga MX. These matches could clash with matches of the 2026 Clausura, which begins in early January.
