Monterrey has agreement with Getafe forward Borja Mayoral

Monterrey is ready to make another top signing who comes from La Liga. Borja Mayoral from Getafe is set to become a new player for Monterrey this summer.

The Spanish striker is 28 years old and has played with Getafe for three years. Sergio Treviño Cantú from Fox Sports MX reports that Borja Mayoral and Monterrey have reached an agreement, and Getafe will need to sell the player.

According to the report, Getafe will need to sell Mayoral this summer to comply with the La Liga Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules. Monterrey is confident of signing the striker, especially if the striker is open to the move. It is reported that Sergio Ramos is key in convincing the player to join the Mexican club.

Fernando Esquivel reports that Monterrey will offer the Spanish striker a four-year contract and will pay around 8 million euros with add-ons worth around 2 million euros.

Borja Mayoral's last season with Getafe

Last season, Getafe finished 13th in La Liga with 42 points and escaped relegation by two points. Mayoral played 24 La Liga games with Getafe last season, where he scored five goals and provided one assist.

His best season with Getafe was in the 2023-24 season, where he scored 15 goals and provided one assist in 27 La Liga games. After two games into the new season, Getafe have two wins from two games.

Mayoral did not play in Getafe's first two games in the new La Liga season. Mayoral was not involved in the squad in the first game against Celta Vigo and was on the bench against Sevilla.
