This summer, Pumas have been active in the transfer market, bringing in Keylor Navas, Álvaro Angulo, Aaron Ramsey, and Pedro Vite, with a fifth signing soon to be unveiled.

José Juan Macías, 25, is the latest to be rumoured with a move to the capital as reports suggest that Pumas have agreed a six-month contract with the forward.

The striker joins the club aiming to reignite his career. Since making his professional debut in 2017 for his boyhood Chivas, Macías seemed destined for a promising career, making the Best XI for the 2019 Liga MX Clausura, aged 20.

In the years since, Macías' career has been disrupted by injuries. In the space of two years, the striker suffered back-to-back cruciate ligament ruptures, causing him to miss more than 18 months of action.

As a result, Chivas opted to part ways with the striker, who soon made the switch to Santos Laguna, in order to get his career back on the right track. Shortly after joining Los Guerreros, Macías faced more setbacks after picking up muscle injuries that kept him on the sidelines.

After an underwhelming spell with the club, where he played three games and scored once, Macías is back looking for a new club.

Earlier in the window, Macías trialled with Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano, but Los Franjirrojos decided against handing the 25-year-old a permanent contract.

Now, it seems that Efrían Juárez has given the green light for Pumas to sign the striker, looking to prove that his career is far from over.
