Gilberto Mora, 16, has become one of the most exciting rising stars in world football thanks to his performances for Tijuana and El Tri.
Since making his professional debut in 2024, Mora has gone from strength to strength, not only becoming one of the first names on the Los Xolos teamsheet but also forcing his way into the Mexican national team, where he played a starring role in this summer's Concacaf Gold Cup knockout rounds.
His performances have caught the eye of the world, given his age and maturity, even forcing Spanish giants Real Madrid to take notice.
In years gone by, Madrid has had a history of signing promising talents from a young age, bringing both Vinicius Jr and Endrick over from Brazil, whilst doing the same with Uruguayan engine Federico Valverde.
As players cannot move to Europe until their 18th birthday, Mora would continue to play his football with Tijuana until January 2027.
The deal would put Mora in high esteem among Mexicans who have worn the shirt of Los Blancos, joining Hugo Sánchez and Javier Hernández, along with José Ramón Sauto and José Luis Borbolla, who represented the club in the 1930s and 40s.
As of this season, 'The Mexican Pedri' has started the season in fine form. In his last two games, Mora has come up with three goals, including a brace against Chivas this past weekend. Even in the recent Leagues Cup, he was one of the standout players in a disappointing Tijuana side, scoring twice in a 5-2 loss to LA Galaxy.
