Toluca has become one of the standout names in the Liga MX Femenil for its remarkable recruitment, and this might be their biggest acquisition yet. Eugénie Le Sommer, a serial winner in Europe, has put pen to paper to join Las Diablas Rojas ahead of the Apertura 2025.
Eugénie Le Sommer's Story
The French forward made her professional debut with Stade Briochin, where she played from 2007 to 2010. During her three years at the club, she made her mark with 33 goals in 65 matches, becoming the top scorer in the French league and being named the 2009/10 Player of the Year.
In 2010, she signed with French giants Olympique Lyonnais, a club where she dominated European football and enjoyed the most successful stage of her career. Over 15 years, she played 400 matches across all competitions and scored 302 goals.
Le Sommer is one of the most decorated players in French football history. With Lyon, she won 13 Division 1 Féminine titles, nine Coupe de France Féminine trophies, three Trophée des Championnes, and eight UEFA Women’s Champions League titles. One of her most memorable moments of her career came in the 2019/20 final, where she scored in the final to help overcome the challenge of Wolfsburg.
The title helped cement her place as one of the most successful players in the competition's history.

In 2021, she made an emotional exit from the club to go on loan to OL Reign in the United States, where she scored 7 goals in 17 matches.
French National Team
Le Sommer made her senior debut for France in 2009 and has played over 200 matches, scoring 94 goals to become the all-time leading goalscorer in French national team history, surpassing both female and male players.

Now heading to Mexico, Le Sommer has competed in four FIFA World Cups as well as multiple UEFA European Championships and Olympic Games.
The former Lyon forward played a key role at the 2015 World Cup, before leading France’s qualification to Euro 2021 with a memorable brace against North Macedonia.
At international level, she has lifted the Cyprus Cup and the 2017 SheBelieves Cup.
