The Mexican National Team is set to play their last two friendly matches this year ahead of the 2026 World Cup. This week, Javier Aguirre's Mexican National team will play against Uruguay and Paraguay.

After these two friendlies, Mexico will have six months left to prepare for the World Cup. With them hosting the World Cup for the third time in its history, the pressure for the team continues to increase.

Even though the World Cup is months away, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum was willing to send a message directly to Javier Aguirre and the Mexican National Team.

Sheunbaum wishes the team the best of luck ahead of the tournament, which will see Mexico play at home for their first three group stage matches.

President Sheinbaum wants the players to play for the country as she praises the country. When asked what she wants to say to the players, Sheinbaum sends a heartfelt and patriotic message.

"Firstly, lots of luck, always. Secondly, when they step onto the pitch, they think of the great country they represent. Mexico is an extraordinary country with exceptional people. Every time they're on the pitch, [I want them] to think of that. In our history. In what we represent. In the great country that we are. Because on the pitch they don't only represent themselves, or the national team, but they are representing a whole country. So, best of luck, and always think about Mexico."

Mexico will first take on Uruguay on Saturday in Mexico. The match will be played at Santos Laguna's stadium, the Estadio Corona. Mexico will be up against top players who play in European leagues.

The last time Mexico played against Uruguay, the South American team defeated Mexico 4-0 on June 5, 2024, before the 2024 Copa America.

Their final friendly match of 2025 will be against Paraguay next Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Paraguay directly qualified for the World Cup with a record of seven wins, seven draws, and four losses in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers.

The match against Paraguay will be played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The last time both teams faced off, Paraguay defeated Mexico 1-0 in a friendly match on August 31, 2022.
