The Esmeraldas host Los Rojinegros of Atlas as they try to push their league record win streak to 12 games.

Leon has demonstrated their abilities clearly during their historic 11-game win streak. La Fiera shows little remorse toward its opponents, always playing with the same intensity.

Coach Ignacio Ambriz trains his club to play hard regardless of the rival, and it shows on both ends of the field as Leon has the highest-scoring offense (33 goals in 14 games) and the stingiest defense (9 goals allowed).

With 35 points, Leon has already clinched a playoff spot and is now fighting to secure the top seed in the Liguilla. The Esmeraldas are favored to continue their win streak against visiting Atlas although the Zorros play much better on the road than at home.

León broke the 47-year-old league consecutive win streak record last weekend with a 3-0 win over Puebla. Top MVP candidate Angel Mena scored the opener in minute 5 and 19 minutes later assisted on the second (by Jean Meneses). Joel Campbell closed out the scoring with his first goal for Leon, that coming in minute 52.

Atlas has been inconsistent throughout the entire Clausura 2019 and they are sitting 14th with 16 points. Los Rojinegros lost their 8th game of the tournament last week and only two teams have lost more (Queretaro and Veracruz). The 2-1 home loss to Necaxa ended their 2-game win streak.

With three games remaining, Atlas is actually mathematically alive in the playoff race, but they would need to win all three games and get a lot of help as well. But expecting them to stay alive for a postseason slot with a win in Leon on Saturday night is asking too much, in my opinion.

Prediction

By this time we know what Leon brings to each game and their dominance is strong, they hold no remorse for any team. Los Esmeraldas will certainly win with ease at home in front of their fans. Atlas, needs a miracle to overcome all adversity on Saturday, It wouldn’t be bad to see Atlas leave Leon with a draw or even a win.
