El Tri will be preparing for two Concacaf Nations League group stage matches during the November FIFA break.

Gerardo Martino will once again work with a mixture of veteran and young players as he prepares El Tri for their final two matches of the year. “Tata” and the Mexican Soccer Federation on Thursday announced his selections for the Team Mexico training camp that will start on Monday.

Mexico – ranked No. 11 in the FIFA World rankings – will visit Panama on Nov. 15 then return home to host Bermuda in Toluca on Tuesday Nov. 19. These are the final two games of the Concacaf Nations League group stage.

El Tri defeated Panama and Bermuda in October to lead Group B with 6 points and expect nothing less than two more wins to finish with a perfect 4-0-0 record.

“Tata” included several young players that could be granted the opportunity to build their confidence and experience on the field, players like Sebastian Jurado (goalkeeper), Luis Romo (defensive midfielder), Johan Vazquez (defender), Sebastian Cordova (attacking midfielder), Jose Juan Macias (striker) and Cristian Calderon (defender).

The roster features a good mixture of Liga MX, MLS and European players that could ease the build up on the field that could lead to big wins for Martino. Notable players include Guillermo Ochoa (goalkeeper), Raul Jimenez (striker), Edson Alvarez (midfielder), Hector Moreno (defender), Jonathan Dos Santos (midfielder) and Uriel Antuna (striker).

There were a few faces left off the team like Javier Hernandez, who is off to a great start with Sevilla, and veteran defender Miguel Layun. Another missing star is Philadelphia Union midfielder Marco Fabian. Also not invited were the two defenders who had played so poorly against Argentina in September, Carlos Salcedo and Nestor Araujo. Midfielder Hector Herrera was not summoned, but he will surely be included in next year’s plan.

Although the Nations League tournament is seen by many as a “waste of a time,” the young players will benefit from being in training camp with Martino and the veterans.
