Atlas FC's 2025 was over in early November after losing 2-0 to Tijuana in their last regular-season match of the 2025 Apertura.
Atlas missed out on the Liguilla after finishing 14th in the league table with 17 points and a record of four wins, five draws, and eight losses.
Atlas fans have been disappointed with their performances over the past few years and have missed out on the Liguilla for two seasons in a row.
The club is currently owned by Grupo Orlegi, who also own Club Santos Laguna. The ownership would no longer own two clubs in Liga MX, as new reports suggest that McLaren Group and the Bahrain Mumtalakat Fund are close to buying Atlas.

Reactions to reports of new Atlas ownership
Despite the change of ownership not being confirmed by Atlas or by McLaren Group and the Bahrain Mumtalakat Fund, many fans have reacted optimistically about this report.
One fan on X writes, "Atlas Saint Germain", referring to PSG. Another fan wrote, "Here comes the four-time champions, Atlas."
Atlas last won the league in 2022, when they won the Clausura 2022 against Pachuca to win back-to-back league titles after winning their first title in 70 years in the Apertura 2021.
A deal is yet to be done but it could be in the next few days according to reports coming from Mexico.
