After reports suggesting the Getafe striker Borja Mayoral was set to join CF Monterrey in Mexico, a new report claims that the Spanish striker will no longer join Liga MX.
Mayoral was linked to a move to Liga MX for a fee of around 6-8 million euros on a four-year contract. Before the transfer window shuts on Monday, the player has decided to look at other options.
According to Cesar Luis Merlo, Mayoral will not join Monterrey this summer after the player's agent confirmed it to Super Deportivo a.m. Mayoral reportedly considered the move to Monterrey this summer but instead thanks the interest and decided to stay in Europe.

The striker is currently 28 years old and has a contract with Getafe until June 2027. Mayoral has played four seasons with Getafe and has already played his first game of the season with the club. Monterrey will continue to look at other options in the market before the transfer window closes.
Monterrey remain strong in Liga MX
Despite losing out on Borja Mayoral, Monterrey's recent form has turned positive really quickly and has become a favorite to win the Apertura this season.
Monterrey has just defeated Club Puebla 4-2 with goals from Sergio Canales and Lucas Ocampos. Canales scored a hat trick while Ocampos scored one and provided two assists. Monterrey is counting on German Berterame as its main striker.
This was Monterrey's fourth win in a row in Liga MX, and they are the current league leaders with 18 points after seven games played. Their current record is six wins, zero draws, and one loss.
Their only loss was against Pachuca on July 13, more than a week after losing 2-1 to Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16 in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Do you think Monterrey will sign a new striker this summer or should they stick with their current team?
