Memphis Depay, 31, is currently a free agent after ending his contract with Corinthians and is on the lookout for a new club.
Amongst his admirers are Grupo Pachuca, who seem to be interested in convincing the striker to join one of their clubs.
The owners are in charge of Pachuca, León and newly-promoted La Liga side Real Oviedo, with it being reported that the Dutch forward could join any of their teams.
Depay offers an impressive resumé. Representing the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, he would join a catalyst of high-profile names to have joined the Liga MX over the past 12 months.
Not only has he played for some of the biggest clubs in the world, but Depay also brings to the table some major honours won throughout his career. He is a two-time league champion, lifting the Eredivisie with PSV Eindhoven before doing the same eight years later by winning La Liga with Barcelona. His trophy cabinet also includes an FA Cup title with Manchester United, a KNVB Cup from his time with PSV and most recently, the Campeonato Paulista with Corinthians.
Which Grupo Pachuca side need him the most?
Between the sides under the Grupo Pachuca umbrella, it's fair to say that Club León is in desperate search of a talisman.
Since Jhonder Cadíz switched from León to Pachuca, La Feria has struggled to find the back of the net. Across the opening six league games, the team has netted five goals, less than half the amount recorded by their Mexican counterparts.
It's no secret that Real Oviedo need all the experience they can get, challenging in the top flight of Spanish football for the first time in 24 years, and Depay would be a massive help to their efforts this season.
Grupo Pachuca convinced Salomón Rondón to leave Pachuca for a move to Spain, but at the age of 38, he will be tested in Europe. Meanwhile, former León forward Federico Viñas scored just once in the second division last season, raising concerns over his ability.
The one team that may not put up a case to sign Depay is Pachuca. Los Tuzos started the season with conviction, firing on all cylinders under new boss Jaime Lozano. In six games, they have scored 11 times, managing to score in all bar one match this season, coming in a 2-0 loss to Tijuana, although they have gone three games without a win.
Are there other options for Memphis Depay?
Two teams that have expressed their desire to sign a high-level, European striker are Pumas and Monterrey. The former are in desperate need of a natural goalscorer, following the performances of Guillermo Martínez, who has one goal to his name this season.
Los Rayados are looking for a new name to compete with the newly called-up Mexican international, German Berterame. However, Monterrey's interest could soon dip if they manage to finalise a deal for Borja Mayoral.
It's uncertain where Memphis Depay will go after his sudden exit from Corinthians, but he would be a welcome fit for any Liga MX side.
