Round One of the 2026 CONCACAF Champions Cup concludes this week and one of Pumas UNAM or San Diego FC will advance to the knockout stages of the competition.

Pumas played against San Diego FC last week at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California. After taking the lead in the first half, San Diego turned things around and won the match 4-1. Today, Pumas will be the home team for the second leg at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.

The MLS side is currently leading 4-1 on aggregate, with Pumas in need to score at least three goals for a chance to advance to the knockout stages of the competition. If there is a draw on aggregate, the away goals rule will be in effect, meaning the team that scored the most as the away team advances.

If the aggregate score is tied, with both teams having the same away goals (Only Example: If Pumas wins 4-1 over San Diego today), the match will go to extra-time, with penalties being the final way to decide the winner if the score remains tied.

In the first leg, Pumas took the lead through a spectacular team goal that was scored by new signing Robert Morales in the 11th minute. Pumas were leading 1-0 at halftime, but things changed in the second half.

In the 69th minute, San Diego equalized through a goal from Manu Duah. San Diego was relentless after the equalizer, and eight minutes later, David Vasquez scored San Diego's second goal. Alex Mighten scored the third in the 81st minute, and Luca Bombino scored the fourth, five minutes later.

Over the weekend, Pumas drew 2-2 with Atlas away at the Estadio Jalisco. Pedro Vite scored the opener for Pumas. Mateo Ezequiel Garcia scored the equalizer for Atlas, but just before halftime, Juninho scored Pumas' second goal through a penalty kick.

Atlas scored the equalizer for Atlas in the 90th minute to rescue a point. Pumas is 5th in the league table with nine points.
