Santiago Giménez's future at AC Milan was in question after many rumors surrounding the Italian club with many strikers this summer. The club has just signed Christopher Nkunku and is now targeting a striker before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Milan were close to signing Victor Boniface and Conrad Harder, but are now after AS Roma striker Artem Dovbyk. Milan considered doing a swap deal with Roma, with Giménez leaving while Dovbyk arrives.

AC Milan director Igli Tare confirmed the club's intentions to potentially do a swap deal involving the Mexican striker just before AC Milan's match against Lecce last night.

New reports suggest that Giménez will stay at AC Milan after his agent confirmed the player is focused on being a part of the team's plans this season.

Matteo Moretto reports that Giménez’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, confirms that the Mexican striker wants to stay at AC Milan and will stay.

AS Roma Sporting Director Shuts Down Swap Deal

Another slight confirmation of Giménez staying at Milan is the words from AS Roma sporting director Ricky Massara. The Italian director mentions that the proposed swap deal with Giménez and Dovbyk does not exist, but does hint that anything can happen in the next two days.

"The swap deal between Dovbyk and Giménez never took off. It’s true that surprises could happen in the last hours of the window, but as we speak, this swap deal does not exist."

AC Milan are reportedly still interested in bringing Dovbyk to the club. The deal could be a loan with an option to buy, but Roma needs to find a replacement. At the moment, Milan is more focused on signing a defender and a midfielder.

It is expected that Milan will attempt to sign Dovbyk in time before the window closes. Milan are after three signings in the next few days: Dovbyk, Adrien Rabiot, and a defender.
