Toluca's season as the reigning Liga MX champions has gone very well over the last couple of months. Toluca won the Campeón de Campeones and the Campeones Cup after winning their 11th league title in May.
Toluca are top of the league in the Apertura 2025, but now los Diablos Rojos face a big bump in their dream to win back-to-back league titles.
In the match against Pachuca last night, Toluca's Alexis Vega suffered an injury in the 73rd minute. As he was running towards the goal, Vega stopped as he felt pain in his left hamstring. The player went down immediately and asked to be taken off.

Vega was seen crying as he was taken off the pitch, and many feared that his injury was serious. Not only were Toluca fans worried, but Mexican National Team fans were as well. Toluca and Pachuca finished in a 2-2 and the Liga MX champions top of the league with two games remaining.
Toluca fans feared that Vega may be out for the rest of the season after seeing how distraught he looked after he went off the pitch. Still, Toluca manager Antonio Mohamed gave hope to fans as he revealed how long Vega may be out for.
Antonio Mohamed announced when Alexis Vega may be back
During the post-match press conference of Toluca vs Pachuca, Antonio Mohamed was asked about how Vega is feeling and for how long the player will be out for.
Mohamed confirmed that Vega will miss the next two games in the regular season, which are against Atlas and Club América.
Mohamed also confirmed that he expects Vega to be back for the playoffs, which rules out the player missing the rest of the season, which is what many feared.
"He warmed up, we thought he wasn't going to play [vs Pachuca]. They drained fluid from his knee, he had a muscular issue. He will miss him for the rest of the regular season, and hopefully he is [recovered] well for the playoffs."Antonio Mohamed, Toluca manager
Alexis Vega is not expected to be selected for the November international break for the Mexican National Team due to this injury. Vega is expected to be out for two to three weeks.
