After seven months as Atlas' head coach, Gonzalo Pineda parted ways with the club following the recent 3-0 loss to Pachuca. Pineda coached 24 matches as Atlas' head coach with a record of five wins, seven draws, and 12 losses.
Atlas is searching for a new manager, and the club is linked with their former manager, Diego Cocca. The Argentine manager has not had a successful spell at any managerial job after leaving Atlas in 2022.
César Luis Merlo reports that Cocca will become the next Atlas head coach for the remainder of the 2025 Liga Apertura season. Atlas fans welcome the appointment after the coach led them to three trophies.

Atlas won back-to-back Liga MX trophies (2021 Apertura and 2022 Clausura) and the Campeon de Campeones trophy for the 2021-2022 season. Atlas confirmed the appointment of Cocca, and many fans are excited to see the coach who ended a 70-year trophyless drought.

Diego Cocca with Atlas
Cocca arrived at Atlas as head coach for the first time in August 2020. He played for Atlas as a player from 1999 to 2001, and his arrival as head coach was welcomed from the start. Cocca didn't have a good start in his first season as Atlas finished 16th in the Apertura 2020.
In the Clausura 2021, things quickly changed for the positive as Atlas finished 7th with 25 points. Atlas were eliminated in the quarterfinals as they drew 1-1 to Puebla but did not advance due to their position being lower than Puebla, who finished 3rd.
The Apertura 2021 was a magical season for the Atlas faithful as they finished 2nd with 29 points. Atlas got past Monterrey and Pumas to reach the final against Leon. The final finished 3-3 on aggregate and Atlas won 4-3 on penalties to win their first title in 70 years.
In the Clausura 2022, Atlas finished 3rd with 27 points and defeated Chivas and Tigres to advance to the final against Pachuca. Atlas won the final 3-2 on aggregate and became one of the few Mexican clubs to win the 'Bicampeonato'.
