The Mexican National Team will play in the upcoming international break next week as they have two friendly matches in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

Many reports suggest that the Mexican National Team roster list for the next two friendly matches will look very different. With players like Rodrigo Huescas and Raúl Jiménez injured and ruled out for the upcoming two matches, Javier Aguirre is expected to bring in other players who seemed out of favor ahead of the World Cup.

One of the players that is expected to be back in the Mexican National Team is Julián Quiñones. The Mexican striker was part of the Mexican National Team in the Gold Cup this summer, but did not play often.

Gibrán Araige from TUDN reports that Quiñones will be called up by Javier Aguirre for the Mexican National Team's next two friendly matches against Colombia and Ecuador.

Quiñones only played four matches in the Gold Cup this summer and started in one match, which was against Suriname. His last appearance was against Saudi Arabia in the quarterfinal.

Other Notable Names in the Upcoming Mexican National Team Roster

According to TUDN reporter Gibrán Araige, another player who will be part of the upcoming roster is Carlos Acevedo. The Santos Laguna goalkeeper has not played for El Tri since 2023. Acevedo has continued to play as the starting goalkeeper for Santos in Liga MX.

Acevedo is expected to compete for a spot in the 2026 World Cup roster as Aguirre is reportedly indecisive on a third-choice goalkeeper for the World Cup next summer.

Another surprising name that could be part of the next Mexican National Team roster for the October games is Club América's right-back Kevin Álvarez. Alejandro Orvañanos of Claro Sports reports that Álvarez would be the replacement of Rodrigo Huescas in the next roster list.

Huescas was seen as the top right-back choice for Aguirre, but his latest ACL injury has led to searching for an ideal replacement for the upcoming friendly matches.
