Monterrey made their intentions to sign a new striker clear at the start of the summer, but have yet to make the move for someone to accompany German Berterame as the club's tallismen.
We previously reported that the club considered a major bid for World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann, but have failed to convince the Atletico Madrid star.
Other names on Monterrey's shortlist included La Liga stars Borja Mayoral and Borja Iglesias, but the pair currently remain on the books of Getafe and Celta Vigo.
At this stage, with less than two weeks before the transfer window closes, options are becoming slim. Less players are available as Los Rayados may be forced into an unexpected move.
The latest forward to join the list is Italian forward Patrick Cutrone. Registered with Césc Fabregas' Como, who appears out of favour by the former Spanish international. However, Canal 6 Deportes' Wille González has broken the news that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker has rejected a potential move to Monterrey.
All summer, Monterrey have highlighted their interest in signing a proven goalscorer from Europe and the names they have been linked with only prove that.
Despite their horrid attempts to sign a new striker, Doménec Torrent's side sit top of the Liga MX table. Having initially struggled for goals, Los Rayados made it five league wins in a row after a 3-0 victory against Necaxa at the weekend.
All the first four goals of the season were scored by their only registered striker, Berterame, but they have since been able to rely on other players, with Lucas Ocampos netting three goals in the last games.
Will Monterrey manage to end their curse and sign a proven striker? Let us know what you think?
